Oh my goodness….that last one resonates with me. Thank you a million times!
Can you let me know roofer good one in port charlotte, fl
You are so welcome
I’ve been a roofer for 15 years you don’t need any permits licenses or any of that bullshit waste of time and ice and water is good yes if the house is not insulated properly if the house is insulated properly and breathe through the ridge vent nothing will leak if it’s shingled properly ice and water and underlayment is bullshit
the ice/ water shield acts as an additional vapor/ leak barrier, i normally say its overkill for the entire house, but for critical spots like valleys, fireplaces, pipes, leading edges — ya know, where roofs tends to take the most damage, additional protection is never a bad idea…
Not sure why RI gave you a heart but I’m a GC and what you wrote is the actual BS. 1) you are completely ignorant of codes. The IECC 2018 calls for not one but TWO courses of IWS (minimum of 36″) on every roof. 2) Even if a house is perfectly insulated it can STILL create ice dams given the right conditions. I know, I have a company that deals specifically with ice dams. 3) Permits ARE required by many jurisdictions (towns) and more every day.
Maybe you should consider some education?
@Sam Helmich These guys are super butt-hurt because and probably feel personally attacked for not following manufacturer specs/ being a bad contractor. The literal definition of chuck in the truck roofers.
Glad I’m not using you
Roofing Insights why are you pushing licensing and permits?? Restrictions you like restrictions?? Or that how you justify over charging your customers??
I been a roofer for 30 years .
I just love how so much can be built around money except the skills of the trades. All for it. Hope the guarantee is not full of holes and some people actually get their 20k for bad jobs that will only show up years down the road. Liability covers the job while it’s being done, so hopefully this is a long term guarantee and not fluff.
I really appreciate everything you said its absolutely true I have been a Florida licensed Roofing contractor since 2004. It’s always refreshing to see another contractor inform the general public of the right way kudos to you brother
We are Roofing Florida and we are serving the Lakeland Tampa and all surrounding areas
Thank you Chris! What area are you serving and whats the name of your roofing business?
Not having workers comp to cover his “employees.”
Thank you so much!
You seem like a very honest person wish you were in South Mississippi to do my roof. We currently building a house, I have been doing research because the roof our last home, we believe, was defected and possibly not installed correctly. So I want to make certain our new home has a good quality roof. What thickness of the plywood decking should be to prevent the roof looking like waves?
Great info, thanks! We were fortunate to find an excellent and honest roofing company 2 years ago and that gives us a feeling of satisfaction!
Glad it was helpful!
Great vid! I’m a new Sales Roof for a Contractor and Im trying to learn as much as I can about roofs to make sure the customers are getting the best rood they can.
This guy seems like he’s involved in the mob. Pretty sure this guy roofed Tony’s house and then straightened
some guys out down at the Newark Deli
Would probably also be good to let the customers know that most of the sales people aren’t roofers at all and that they have no experience in roofing. That they rely on their crew to tell them a good job was done, and that if there is a problem they will have to send a repair person over to check it out and make things better, as they don’t have the skills required to do so. This is an important piece of information many would like left out. If we are looking to separate people. Let’s finish the job and do it right
I’ve worked for 3 company’s and have never met someone who has zero experience in roofing… where are you at where you’re experiencing this? I’m in Texas.
Thanks for another great video. I just had my roof done and discovered #6 after I inspected it. Found some weak areas walking on the roof which is disappointing after they replaced much of the decking. I took a look in my attic and also seen a freshly broken truss which they did try to fix, but looks inadequate because of the much smaller size sistered wood.
Never knew your roof had to be registered to claim the lifetime warranty, just like ac systems
Thank you for doing this video. I’m in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and need a new roof lest my insurance company drops me. I’ll get some quotes from a couple of the companies you suggested because you’ve earned my trust and see how they do.
Is a lien waiver ever something requested by a homeowner when hiring for just a roof job? Are there any other ways to make sure the roofer I hire is paying their bills?
pay him?
Does Florida requires roofing license or a contractor license ? What education/tests should roofing contractor have/pass?
Hate to disagree, but, the shingle manufacturer have so many excuses to avoid the warranty! I’ve been told by sales reps that they will only pay out 7% of their claims
I’m looking for a roofing contractor in the Jacksonville, FL or Orange Park, FL area. Do you have any recommendations? I’ve been looking at a company called Prime Roofing that has caught my attention. Your thoughts and opinions are much appreciated. Thank you, Dmitry.
Great videos! You have been really helpful. I have learned so much! I have to say I think there might be a few roofing contractors out there that might not like you to much!
Every material comes with warranty and proper maintenance as a consumer (contractor or home owner) need to follow proper installation guidelines and also proper maintenance of product. Not because you just installed it that means that it will last a long time you need to properly maintain it. Keep the outer shell of you’re house maintained and you will always have a leak free home.
Using staples instead of proper length roofing nails on shingles to complete the job faster. The first 40-50 mph wind gust will peel off your shingles in bunches.
